Luis Hernandez celebrated Senior Night on Tuesday with a hat trick to lead Polk County to a 4-1 victory over Mountain Heritage in a Western Highlands Conference match in G.M. Tennant Stadium.
In the final regular season home game for the Wolverines (8-9-1, 5-4), Hernandez helped lift Polk County to its second straight win. The Wolverines are scheduled to close their regular season Wednesday at Madison.
Polk County is currently ranked 25th in the 1A MaxPreps state computer ratings released Tuesday morning. That should be high enough to earn the Wolverines a wild card berth in the state 1A playoffs that begin November 1. Brackets for the playoffs will be released Monday.
Isaac Edwards scored the other goal for Polk County, with Salvador Chavez assisting all four goals.
The Wolverines honored their 10-member senior class as part of the night’s action.
