Nicky Culbreth

Joe Neal (Nicky) Culbreth, 74, of Columbus, N.C. died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017 at his home.

Born in Polk County, N.C., he was the son of the late Joe Cletus “Buster” and Irene Lindsey Culbreth. He retired from Windstream after 43 years of service. Nicky was a member of the Rescue Squad where he served since 1970. He enjoyed helping people, loved his grandchildren, and loved the beach. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is predeceased by a brother Phillip A. Culbreth.

Surviving are a wife Patsy Culbreth; a daughter Kristie Culbreth Jenkins; grandchildren, Madison Blackwell and Lindsey Jenkins. Also surviving are one nephew and three nieces.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 in Polk Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Peter McDonald officiating with military rites by the Polk County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.

Members of the Polk County Rescue Squad will serve as pallbearers.

The family received friends Monday, Oct. 9, 2017 from 7-8 p.m. at McFarland Funeral Chapel Tryon, N.C.
