Gene Sylvester Dimsdale, Sr.

Gene Sylvester Dimsdale, Sr. of Columbus, N.C. went home to be with the Lord on October 1, 2017.

Gene was born on January 13, 1947 to the late McClure Dimsdale and Beatrice Wilhelm Dimsdale.

Gene was husband to Suzy Owens Dimsdale and loving father of three children, Dugan (Deena) Dimsdale of Columbus, N.C., Kimberly (Rockey) Dimsdale, and Tammy (Mike) Conner of Ellenboro, N.C.

Gene was born and raised in Polk County, N.C. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He bravely served his country during the Vietnam War. Gene loved to fish, hunt, garden, and spend time with his dog, Gus. Gene also loved and greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Gene was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife and children he is survived by one brother Mac (Lou) Dimsdale of Tryon, two sisters, Jeanette Conner of Columbus, and Faye (Charles) Ravan of Monks Corner, S.C.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Columbus, N.C. with Rev. Gary Lockee and Rev. Brian Wilson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
