Columbus Heritage Festival now includes a pumpkin dessert contest

Mark your calendar for Saturday, Oct. 7 for the Columbus Heritage Festival on the lawn of the historic Courthouse in Columbus.

A pumpkin dessert contest has been added to the festivities that include live music, crafters, heritage displays, candy apples, funnel cakes, Hawaiian ice, popcorn, apple cider and other goods. The NC National Guard will participate with a 100 ft. long inflatable obstacle course for the young and the old!

The festival will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be adjacent to the weekly farmers market in front of the Polk County Courthouse.

The Historical Museum will celebrate Stearns Schools’ 100th Anniversary at the school across from the Courthouse during the festival with a ceremony at 11 a.m. and a cake. The House of Flags Museum and Polk County Historical Museums will also be open. A Rain Date is set for Saturday, Oct. 14.
