Polk County’s girls tennis team tuned up for the start of Western Highlands Conference play with a 9-0 win Monday at East Rutherford in non-conference play.
The Wolverines (7-2) rolled through singles play, held in pro-style format, with No. 1 player Hannah Jenne roaring back from a first-set loss to take a 6-1 win in the second set and a 10-5 win in the tiebreaker.
Tana Harris, Haven Dufford, Julia Griffin, Bella Marino and Virginia Rostick were all straight-set winners in singles.
The Wolverines swept doubles play with the teams of Jenne and Harris, Ava Marino and Sara Muse and Trinity Branham and Willow Arkell.
Polk County hosts Avery on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in its first conference match of the season. The WHC opener also features the league’s only 1A teams, as Mitchell doesn’t field a squad.
