Editor’s Note: following is the agenda for the Polk County Board of Commissioner’s meeting on Monday, Sept. 18. A public hearing will begin at 7 p.m. with the regular meeting following. The meeting is held in the R. Jay Foster Hall of Justice, located on the second floor of the Womack building in Columbus.
Call to Order Public Hearing – Chairman Melton. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive public comment on the updated 20/20 Vision Comprehensive Plan for Polk County, North Carolina. Cathy Ruth, Planner and Jim Edwards, Balance Works Inc., will be present for questions. The public hearing was properly advertised in the Tryon Daily Bulletin. An electronic copy of the revised plan is available for review on the Polk County website www.polknc.org.

Polk County District Court Office Relocations – District Attorney Greg Newman will discuss the benefits of the new office space.
Lake Adger Dredging Update – An engineer from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) will be present.
Resolution of Support For Grant Application – Sharon Decker, Tryon International Equestrian Center will present the resolution. Motion to approve.
20/20 Vision Comprehensive Plan – Cathy Ruth, Planner and Jim Edwards, Balance Works Inc., will present the plan for approval. Motion to approve.
Resolution Declaring Surplus Real Property and Authorizing the Sale by Electronic Public Auction – County Manager Pittman will present the resolution. Motion to approve.
North Carolina Parks & Recreation Authority Grant – Chairman Melton will read the letter received from Governor Roy Cooper.
Polk County Law Enforcement Facility– Captain Jerry Williams will present the quotes for the Laundry facility at the new jail. Motion to approve.
Manager’s Report – (1) Paul Luzier, Moseley Architects, will give the PC Law Enforcement Facility construction update. (2) Appearance Commission/Doughboy Statue update.
Volunteer Boards for Vote – Animal Cruelty Investigators – 2 applicants, 2 vacancies. Motion to approve.
Volunteer Boards for Review – None.
