Animal totems and trees are central to the symbolic imagery that Christina Ramsey’s acrylic and digital art explores in the meaning of self, our relationship to each other and the spiritual connection to nature. The technique of mirroring, juxtaposing patterns and color, allows the reflection of these symbols to take on an expanding and ever-changing visual form.
In these works, Christina Ramsey uses layering to create and enrich a non-verbal language. Human vocabulary used to describe the themes of these images might include the words ‘duality’, ‘pareidolia’, and ‘mysticism’.
Christina Ramsey will have a solo show at Carri Bass Studio at 25 S. Tryon St. in Tryon on August 25 from 4-8 p.m.
