Soccer, soccer, soccer.  Show me a kid who does not like soccer. There are not many I have found.  Recently I returned from a mission trip to Zitomyr, Ukraine. What was the passion of the kids? You are right – soccer. But these kids were playing in sand barefooted with no shoes nor gear. Their dream is to play in grass, to play, play, and play.

The government recently opened their country to churches to reach out to their people, to work with them and to help make the Ukraine a more moral society. They announced a 500th anniversary celebration of Martin Luther reformation for this year. Under the communist regime and farther back to fighting the Nazis, the people have become a majority of alcoholics and drug addicts, to name a few of their problems.   So, the Ukraine is asking for help.  The church in Zitomyr is working with the kids and teens helping them find their way to a better life. One way is through providing some soccer gear as well as a moral guide.
