FENCE presents a free family concert featuring Daniel Shearin
Published 3:43 pm Wednesday, August 16, 2017
On Sunday, August 20 at 4 p.m. Daniel Shearin will perform at Foothills Equestrian Nature Center. This performance is part of FENCE’s monthly, free family concert series. All are encouraged to attend this great family event. Following the performance refreshments will be served.
Daniel Shearin is a singer/songwriter living in Asheville, N.C. With focus on production as well as songwriting, Daniel experiments with different textures, instruments, and various “found sounds” to accompany his singing and finger-style guitar. From his home studio where he has produced the albums of several local artists in addition to his work at Echo Mountain Recording Studios (including Grammy-nominated “Infinite Arms” from Band of Horses), he records most of his songs himself. Here he leaves a lot of the arranging to what he calls “spontaneity and luck” to create a sometimes ambient, sometimes driving mix of folk and world music reminiscent of classic voices like Paul Simon and Nick Drake or contemporaries like Bon Iver and Jose Gonzalez.
Daniel has been a finalist in several international, national, and regional songwriting contests. In addition to performing solo, Daniel tours across the US and Canada with his band River Whyless and was a member of Uncle Mountain before their split in 2012.
FENCE is located at 3381 Hunting Country Road in Tryon. For more information about this or upcoming events call 828-859-9021, email info@fence.org or visit www.fence.org.
