Group to offer master class

Bluegrass powerhouse The Kruger Brothers bring their iconic fusion of American tunes and classical sensibilities to Tryon on Friday, September 15 at 8 p.m. The Wilkesboro, N.C. based trio will open the 2017-2018 Main Stage Series at Tryon Fine Arts Center.

Since their formal introduction to American audiences in 1997, The Kruger Brothers’ remarkable discipline, creativity and their ability to infuse classical music into folk music has resulted in a unique sound that has made them a fixture within the world of acoustic music. The honesty of their writing has since become a hallmark of the trio’s work.

In their ever-expanding body of work – Jens Kruger (banjo and vocals), Uwe Kruger (guitar and lead vocals), and Joel Landsberg (bass and vocals) – The Kruger Brothers personify the spirit of exploration and innovation that forms the core of the American musical tradition. Their original music is crafted around their discerning taste, and the result is unpretentious, cultivated, and delightfully fresh.

“The Kruger Brothers are one of our most-requested performers; we’re so happy to have them back in Tryon,” said TFAC Executive Director Marianne Carruth.

In addition to the September 15 performance, The Kruger Brothers will offer a master class to musicians and music enthusiasts on Saturday, September 16 at 10 a.m. The Kruger Brothers will spend over two hours working one-on-one with master class attendees, and share their unique perspective on traditional music and the relationship between instrument and performer. Musicians of any skill level and genre are invited to participate for only $20 per student.

Tickets for The Kruger Brothers performance are available at tryonarts.org or by calling TFAC’s Kessler Box Office at 828-859-8322. The 2017-2018 Main Stage Series is sponsored by Parsec Financial. The Kruger Brothers are sponsored by Main Street Insurance and media sponsor WNCW.
