Rabies clinic set for Aug. 23 following equine testing positive

GREEN CREEK – A rabies clinic has been planned for Wednesday, Aug. 23 at the Green Creek Fire Department following a horse testing positive for rabies in the Red Fox Road area of the county this week.

The rabies clinic is sponsored by Polk County Animal Control and will be from 4-6 p.m. with Dr. Kelly Sulik, DMV.

All dogs, cats and ferrets must be kept vaccinated against rabies in accordance with N.C. General Statute 130A-185.

The sheriff’s office says although it is not required by law, horses should be kept current on rabies vaccinations also.

Rabies shots will be given on Aug. 23 for $8 with DA2PP and FVRCP for $12.
