Landrum mom arrested for child neglect after snorting a pill

LANDRUM – A Landrum mother accused of neglecting her two small children after snorting a pill was arrested on charges of unlawful child neglect, according to Landrum Police reports.

Lottie Catherine Johnson, 25, of Bon Aire Apartments in Landrum, was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful neglect of a child, according to police reports.

A manager at the apartment complex told the Landrum Police Department there were several complaints made from tenants about Johnson, who appeared to be intoxicated and people had concerns about Johnson’s 10-month-old and 3-year-old children, according to reports.

A maintenance worker found Johnson outside in a lawn chair slouching moments before she fell into a bush and her speech was slurred, according to the report.

A neighbor also told police her son had taken a photo of one of the children in a dog cage near the back porch, according to the report, but Johnson denied that her child was in a dog cage, the report stated.

When police arrived they found Johnson in a lawn chair outside and officers said her speech was slurred and she appeared to be having trouble keeping her eyes open. Police said her eyes were bloodshot and there was a yellow substance on her nostrils, according to the report.

Johnson admitted to police she was on various prescription drugs and that she had snorted a pill. Johnson said she had taken one Xanex, one Roxycodone and snorted half of a Xanax that day, according to the police report.

As of Wednesday, Aug. 9, Johnson was still being held in the Spartanburg County Detention Facility under $6,000 in bonds.

The children were taken into custody by the department of social services.
