Irene Barbara Weighill Padrick died peacefully on July 23, 2017, after a brief illness. She was born February 10, 1924, in England, the cherished daughter of Frank and Kathleen Weighill. She was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband, John W. Padrick. She had been a resident of Tryon since 2001.

Barbara was a devoted mother and wife, creating a happy home for her family through the many moves of a military family. She was an avid needlewoman who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, bargello and other forms of needlework. Much of her work in recent years was donated to foreign missions, Thermal Belt Outreach and the veterans’ hospital in Asheville.

Barbara said her one goal in life was “to make someone laugh every day.” With her dry British wit, ability to be silly, and kind heart, she surely accomplished that goal and probably has the angels chuckling as well.
