FFSA recruiting new commission members

Published 2:57 pm Monday, July 31, 2017

The Foothills Fire Service Area (FFSA) is looking for civic minded citizens who would serve on the board of commissioners. The duty of the board of commissioners is to supervise the fire service in the area with the help of the Tryon Fire Department chief.

The commission meets once a quarter, and in July recommends to the Greenville County Council the property tax millage for the district. The requirement is that commissioners live in the FFSA which is around Lake Lanier up to the North Carolina state line.

Interested persons should file a Statement of Intention of Candidacy with the Greenville County Voter Registration and Elections Office by noon on Aug. 15, 2017.
