► Landrum approves comprehensive plan
The City of Landrum approved its comprehensive plan during its July 11 meeting. The comprehensive plan is for the next 10 years and was compiled from community input.
► Landrum approves final reading to close section of Red Bird Ln.
The City of Landrum approved its second and final reading of an ordinance to close a portion of Red Bird Lane for Carver Industries to expand. The city held a public hearing prior to the approval. The road will not be closed until court hearings are held in the county because it is a public roadway.
► Columbus reconsidering fixing drainage issues at Barber St.
The Town of Columbus has reopened a request to correct drainage issues at Barber Street near property owned by Gene Owens. Council met July 20 and heard from Owens about a tree that fell in recent months. Council continued the meeting while council members went out to visit the property. Council discussed at least fixing the catch basins in the area. Council directed staff to fix problems and report back with what can be done during the town’s August meeting.
