Georgie Charlotte Hawkins, 90, of Tryon, N.C., died, Sunday, July 16, 2017 in the Western North Carolina Baptist Home.

Born in Franklin, N.C., she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Allaphair Holland McCoy. A cherished love of hers was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Georgie loved the outdoors and nature, as well as baking and cooking. She was also a great seamstress. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tryon.

Surviving are her husband of 69 years, Lewis Hawkins; a son, Tom Hawkins (Terry) of Lenoir, N.C.; a daughter, Judy Holmes (Ed) of Asheville, N.C.; grandchildren, Josh (Liza), Sarah, Jennifer (Michael), and Teige; great grandchildren, Avery, Lawson, Alaphair, Jack Roland, and Harper. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Andrew.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 23, 2017 in McFarland Funeral Chapel with Dr. Jeff Harris officiating.

The family received friends from 2-2:45 prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Tryon.
