The Friends of the Polk County Public Libraries (PCPL) would like to thank everyone in the community for helping make the Spring Book Sale at Columbus Library the most successful on record! More than $4,000 was raised to benefit Polk County Public Libraries.

Up next and brand new this year is the Summer Book Sale! It will be held the last weekend in July at the Saluda Fire Department at 199 Walnut Street. The sale will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, July 28 and from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, July 29. Books, DVDs, and CDs withdrawn from the library or donated by the community will be sold with most items under $1. Starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, select books will be given away for free.

Volunteers are still needed for the sale. If you can help, please contact Friends of the Library President Pam Gray at pmgray7@rsnet.org. The Friends also welcome new members so they can expand the assistance they provide to Polk County Public Libraries. Consider joining the organization to celebrate and enhance reading and literacy in our community. Membership fees start at $10 annually.

All proceeds from the book sale are used to support Polk County Public Libraries through projects such as contributing to the children’s Summer Reading Program and other events, sponsoring development opportunities for the library staff, holding appreciation events for the library volunteers, and planning free programs and speakers of general interest for the community.
