Sizzling first half earns Fraga spot in Frontier League All-Star Game

Daniel Fraga is a Frontier League All-Star for the second time in his minor league baseball career.

The former Polk County standout is one of nine Florence Freedom players to be chosen for the 2017 Frontier League All-Star Game, set to be played July 12 in Joilet, Ill.

Fraga, who represented Florence in the 2015 All-Star Game, has been red-hot throughout the first half of this season for the Freedom. Through 45 games, Fraga is hitting .337 with eight doubles, a triple, 13 stolen bases and 22 RBI.

Fraga is currently ranked third in the Frontier League in runs scored (39), fifth in walks (33), fifth in on-base percentage (.447) and seventh in steals. He had a 12-game hitting streak during June.

Florence has the league’s best record at 31-14 and leads the West Division by five games.
