It didn’t take no more than a few sentences for Ted Phaeton, the Fox Carolina Morning News anchor and meteorologist to capture the attention and minds of all those attending the kickoff of the Summer Enrichment Camp, held at the Tryon International Equestrian Center, followed by lunch at the camp site, Zion Grove Church. The motivational speech by Phaeton titled “No Rain, No Rainbow” was jam packed with advice and tools to help young people succeed in life.
Phaeton told the attendees that “you never truly fail until you stop trying” and sometimes, in order to grow, “you may have to do something scary and the line to success is not a straight line.”
“School is practice for whatever life throws your way. Don’t stop learning. School work may be your storm, but the rainbow is out there” Phaeton said. He challenged everyone to write whatever they wanted to be, on a piece of paper, and place it where they will see it constantly and focus on that goal.
After a tour of the Tryon Equestrian Center, the camp attendees was met by the Fox Carolina News photographer where they posed for footage to be aired on the news with Phaeton.
Phaeton and the news team joined the attendees for lunch where more photos and news footage was shot. The highlight of the day came when Ted Phaeton danced while the kids sang JuJu to the beat!
The venue and all camp expenses are paid for by a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation and sponsored by the Unity in the Community Organization.
