Roger G. Hagy

Roger Glen Hagy, 83, ended his battle with kidney disease passing away on June 22, 2017.  He was son of the late Rufus G. and Polly Whitley Hagy of Tazewell, VA and husband of Louise Law Hagy.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Hagy; two sons, Roger Glen Hagy, Jr of Matthews, NC and John Law Hagy of Penland, NC; a daughter Carolyn Jane Hagy of Aberdeen, NC; and a brother, Dr. John Albert Hagy of Rocky Mount, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.   He was predeceased by a sister, Mrs. E.L. Kirby of Richlands, VA

He was a member of Tryon Presbyterian Church and was an officer of five Presbyterian Churches through the years.  He retired from Milliken after 40 years in engineering services in various plants.  He attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA and later graduated from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC in 1958 where he was captain of the 1958 football team.

He was president of the Tryon, NC and Douglas, GA Kiwanis Clubs.  He was a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America earning the Silver Beaver Award.

He was also a member of the NC Textile Manufacturers Association, Energy Committee, the Carolina Utility Customers Association, was nominated to serve on the State of NC Utility Commission and served on the Executive Board Chattahoochee Council Boy Scouts of America.  He served in the US Army from 1954-1956.

A private graveside service will be held.
