Free vision screening July 4

Published 3:24 pm Friday, June 23, 2017

The Columbus Lions Club will be in the restored courthouse offering free vision screening with their SPOT camera from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on July 4. The Lions will have brooms for sale and a box for collecting used eyeglasses for recycling.

The Welch-Allyn SPOT Camera can evaluate eyes for six possible defects in vision in two seconds. A print-out will be given that indicates everything checked is OK or to take to your eye care professional showing any vision defects detected. An explanation of the medical terms is printed on the back of the sheet.

All ages from 6 months to senior adults can be checked. Parents are encouraged to bring their preschool aged children because some visual defects cannot be treated after the child reaches school age.
