POLK COUNTY DISTRICT COURT RESULTS FOR JUNE 7

In Polk County District Court on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, with Judge Athena F. Brooks presiding, 112 cases were heard. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.

The following persons were convicted of a crime:

Montana Starr Carter was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Carter was fined $40 and court costs.

Corey Randal Dinsmore was convicted of carrying a concealed gun. Dinsmore was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for time served.

Nathan Aaron Fulks was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Fulks was to pay court costs.

Reggie Jamont Hannon was convicted of misdemeanor probation violation. Hannon was sentenced to 10 days in jail then terminate probation.

Denise Pettit was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Pettit was fined $40 and court costs.

Alfred Sellers III was convicted of misdemeanor larceny and second-degree trespass. Sellers was sentenced to one day in jail with credit for time served.

Kovacs Chevalie Smith was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Smith was to pay court costs.

Denia Carolina Zuniga was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Zuniga was fined $60 and court costs.

LANDRUM POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT

The following is the Landrum Police Department report for the month of May 2017:

A total of 28 traffic citations were issued and four arrests made.

A total of nine criminal citations were issued with eight arrests made.

Nine criminal investigations were conducted.

The department wrote four accident reports, provided three funeral escorts, and issued 18 warning citations.

COLUMBUS POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT

The following activity report is for the month of May, 2017.

The department responded to 478 calls, which included 12 wrecks, 10 alarm calls, three domestic, three suspicious vehicles, six suspicious persons, one assist fire/EMS, two larceny, three stranded motorists, one disturbance and 14 involuntary commitments.

The department conducted 7,683 premise checks, including 95 residential, 7,449 business and 139 church.

The department issues 179 charges including 94 speeding citations, seven no operators license, four driving while license revoked, 11 drug charges, one uninsured motorist, seven careless & reckless driving, 12 registration violations, and four open container.

The department made 21 arrests including three felony, 18 misdemeanor, four DWI.

The department responded to 14 requests to assist the sheriff’s office, city police departments and other agencies for a total of 15.39 hours.

The department conducted 227 community patrols.

The department logged 96 hours in training.

COLUMBUS FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT

The Columbus Fire Department report covers the month of May 2017.

The fire department responded to a total of 96 calls and had just over 200 hours of training.

The department responded to 47 incidents in Columbus (municipality) and 40 in Columbus (township).

The department assisted with two incidents in Mill Spring, three in Saluda, one in Sunny View, and three in Tryon.

SALUDA POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT

For the month of May 2017, the Saluda Police Department logged 4,306 miles on patrol; issued 44 state citations, 11 city citations and 14 warning citations; responded to 107 calls for service; and was involved in one check point with highway patrol, Columbus and Polk.

The department made nine arrests including two for DWI, three for drugs, four for warrants, one for assault on female, and one assault inflicting injury.
