The Lady Wolverines basketball squad wrapped up its 2017 schedule last weekend at the Tiger Tussle Tournament in Rosman, winning the tournament championship.
Competing in the eighth grade division, the Lady Wolverines defeated Lady Hawks of Jackson County 35-33 in the championship game, rebounding from a 35-29 loss to the Lady Hawks in pool play.
Julia Griffin and Sara Muse each scored six points in the final, with Kaylin Jenkins, Emmie McDowell and Olivia Overholt each scoring five, Rachael Davis and Marissa Twitty each scoring three and Kristen Hall adding two points.
“Really proud of this team this year,” said head coach Brad Muse. ” They have been working with each other for the last three years and have developed a real good chemistry.”
The Lady Wolverines program added a sixth and seventh grade team this year, coached by Polk County High School junior varsity coach Amber Thompson, and hopes to expand next season.
