Singing for the Soldiers planned for Monday evening

The ninth annual Memorial Day “Singing for the Soldiers” will be held Monday, May 29 at 6 p.m. at the Columbus Veteran’s Park behind the Polk County courthouse, at the corner of Gibson and Ward streets, Columbus.

The event raises money for care packages for overseas troops and hospitalized vets.

Nationally known Gospel artist Mike Upright and Soul Vision will be performing as well as bluegrass gospel group Colt Creek. A special patriotic ceremony will be held to honor Polk’s fallen heroes as well featuring the Polk County Honor Guard. Hot dogs, desserts, and cold drinks will be sold to raise money. Any size donation accepted for admission.

In case of rain, the event will be held inside the Columbus Fire Department. Please bring lawn chairs. For more information call 828-817-3722.
