Green River clean-up May 20

Published 6:11 pm Thursday, May 18, 2017

This Saturday, May 20, Polk Trails will be partnering with MountainTrue for a clean-up of a beautiful stretch of the Green River below Lake Adger.

Polk Trails is asking all participants to RSVP by email, trails@polknc.org, and when you do, mention if you are able to bring a boat (canoes are preferred) and if you have a vehicle or trailer to help transport boats. If you would like to come but don’t have a boat, let Polk Trails know and they will try and arrange for an extra spot or boat.  Even if you are unable to attend but have a canoe you wouldn’t mind lending it would be much appreciated.

  • Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Ag Center in Mill Spring. Event will end around 3-4 p.m.
  • Cleaning will be the section of river between Coxe Rd. and Ken Miller Rd. (~5 miles)
  • Bring water, a snack, clothes you don’t mind getting wet/muddy and a life jacket if possible.
  • Polk Trails will provide trash bags and ‘grabbers’ to retrieve trash
