Robin McCall Music Fund helps provide instruments to PCMS band

The Polk County Middle School Band was honored to recently receive a grant from the Robin McCall Music Fund at the Polk County Community Foundation.

The intention of this funding was to provide beginner band instruments to students of Polk County Schools when they are able to choose to study music for the first time. The instruments purchased with the grant money were loaned to students in order to give students more options in determining what instrument they wanted to play or are good at playing.

The ready availability of these instruments meant that students and families did not have any barriers that might prevent students from discovering a love of music. Providing these loaner instruments allowed students to focus on simply enjoying music.

The grant provided $7,700 to acquire four flutes, four clarinets, four trumpets and one trombone. All the instruments purchased with this fund are currently being used by PCMS band students as they learn how to further their musicianship.

The members and staff of the Polk County Middle School band program are very grateful for this generous gift and extend our deepest gratitude to Robin McCall, who worked with the Polk County Community Foundation to realize her dream of supporting these young musicians.
