Dorothy Elizabeth Needham

Dorothy Elizabeth Needham, 79, of Landrum, S.C., died Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

She was born in Winston Salem, N.C. to the late Lawrence and Lena Beaman Needham. She was a medical nurse with the United States Navy. She enjoyed gardening, animals, going to The Meeting Place in Tryon, watching old movies, and also enjoyed donating to Foothills Humane Society and other organizations that cared for animals. She loved living in the mountains and attended Landrum United Methodist Church.

Surviving are, two nieces, Heidi Michalek of Jacksonville, Fla. and Melissa Daniels; two sisters, Laurene Needham and Carolyn Daniels both of Jacksonville, Fla.; two cousins, Connie Musal and Kathy Mendenhall; two nephews, Perry Daniels and Mike Daniels.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017 in The Meeting Place, Tryon, N.C.

The family would like to thank Mrs. Pamela Doty of The Meeting Place and the staff of Hospice of the Carolina Foothills for their care and love of Dorothy.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Pacolet Area Conservancy, National Wildlife Federation, or the National Humane Society.
