Rhian Alley scored twice in the first 10 minutes and Polk County cantered to an 8-1 win Friday over Mitchell in a Western Highlands Conference girls soccer match in G.M. Tennant Stadium.

Alley scored in the third and 10th minutes as the Wolverines (13-4, 9-2) had little trouble with Mitchell (3-13-1, 2-8) despite playing part of the first half with 10 players after Baylee Love stepped off the field with an injury. Love returned and played the entire second half.

Addie Lynch added two goals and Reese Alley, Cameron Capozzi, Sydney Waldman and Lauren Ketwitz each added goals for Polk County.

Lyndsey Crowder scored midway through the second half for Mitchell’s lone goal.

The win kept Polk County in sole possession of second place in the WHC. The Wolverines travel Monday to face conference leader Hendersonville in the final conference match between the two rivals before the Bearcats move out of the WHC after this season.
