Tryon Elementary School’s Battle of the Books team placed fourth Tuesday, April 25 in the Region 8 competition held in Asheville. The effort marked the first time that a Polk County school has taken part in a regional BOB competition. Tryon Elementary’s team, which won the county competition earlier this year, consisted of fourth and fifth graders. During the competition, students are asked questions about various published works and must respond with the title and author of the related book. Tryon Elementary’s team included: Fourth Grade – Cameron Hodges, Brooklynn Lewis, Ramey Martin, Riley Ballentine, Neil Rostick, Madison Sparks-Trumble; Fifth Grade – Cade Bright, Gracie Edwards, Sarah Gray, Brianna Gray, Jeffrey Gray, Lawson Carter.
