Bud (Ward H.) Clegg

Bud (Ward H.) Clegg, 65, of Columbus, N.C. died on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Smith Phayer Hospice House in Landrum, S.C.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Clegg, daughter Darcy Bacon (Josh), son Travis Strong (Carolyn), and five grandchildren all of Harrisonburg, Va., his mother Jean T. Clegg of Lake Wales, Fla., sister Barbara Graffin (Ray) of Keene, N.H. and a number of nieces and nephews.

Born near Pittsburgh, Pa., Bud graduated from Gannon University in Erie, Pa. and served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He pursued a career in banking including helping to create the first online bank. He then branched out into consulting in various industries worldwide.

No formal services will be held at this time but a gathering of family and friends is planned for the future. Bud was a true animal lover, both big and small, and a donation may be made to the Foothills Humane Society, PO Box 126, Tryon, NC 28782 in his honor.
