► Polk appoints two on planning board
The Polk County Board of Commissioners appointed two members to its planning board during the county’s meeting on Tuesday, April 25. Wayne Horne was appointed to serve as the Green Creek Township representative and Warren Watson was appointed to serve as the Tryon Township representative.
► Sign-ups for adult summer basketball league begin
The Polk County Recreation Department is currently holding signups for its third annual adult summer basketball league. The league is for adults age 30 and up but each team is allowed to have two players between the ages of 18 and 30. People can either sign up as a team or an individual. Each team will have a fee but the team has the option of finding a sponsor, whose name will be printed on team jerseys. Signups remain open until Friday, June 2 with games scheduled from mid June through early August.
