Polk County fought back Tuesday from a two-run deficit, scoring three runs in the top of the sixth en route to a 3-2 win over Rosman in non-conference baseball action in Rosman.

The Wolverines (7-10) avenged a loss earlier this season to Rosman (12-6) while winning their second straight game. Polk County hosts Brevard on Wednesday in another non-conference clash.

The Wolverines began their rally in the sixth with one out as Nick Capozzi and Grayson Jones singled and Chris Phipps reached on an error to load the bases. A passed ball allowed Capozzi to score, and Jared Wolfe was then hit by a pitch to again load the bases.

An error on an Elijah Sutton fly ball allowed Jones to score with the tying run, and a walk to Evan Rimer brought home Phipps with what proved to be the winning run.

Avery Edwards pitched six innings to earn the win, striking out seven and allowing four hits. Zach Foy pitched a scoreless seventh for the save.

Capozzi and Jones each were 2-for-3 to lead Polk County, with Rimer going 1-for-2 and Tyler Harris 1-for-3.
