Saluda Elementary students recently staged a science fair at the school, using kits provided by Duke Energy as part of a grant received by fifth grade teacher Ginger Rackley.

The Duke Energy Science Night Kit received by Rackley provided students with kits for STEM-based learning (STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

During the evening, fifth grade students ran the various stations, with each fifth grader also required to complete a science fair project using the scientific method.

All other classes worked together to complete a science display as well. The second grade class even had the quails that hatched in their class recently on hand for parents and students to see.

Science night was a community event as parents, students, siblings, faculty, staff and community members viewed the science projects/displays and participated in the various STEM-based stations.
