Editor’s note: following is the agenda for the Polk County Board of Commissioner meeting on Tuesday, April 25. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the R. Jay Foster Hall of Justice, located on the second floor of the Womack building in Columbus.
Call to Order of the Public Hearing Regarding the Proposed Revision to the Polk County Agricultural District & Enhanced Agricultural District Ordinance – Chairman Melton. The purpose of the public hearing is to take public comment on the proposed ordinance, an Ordinance of the Board of County Commissioners of Polk County, North Carolina, entitled “Polk County Voluntary Agricultural District & Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural District Ordinance.” The proposed revision is to consolidate the two existing ordinances into one document and clarify membership terms. Dawn Jordan, Agricultural Economic Development Director, will present the revision. The public hearing was properly advertised in the Tryon Daily Bulletin. The information is included in the agenda packet under Agenda Item #16.

The purpose of the public hearing is to take public comment on the submission of an application for funds available through the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund. Jerry Stensland, Parks & Recreation Director, will present the information. The public hearing was properly advertised in the Tryon Daily Bulletin. The information is included in the agenda packet under Agenda Item #17.

Mental Health Task Force Presentation – Becky Brodar, Community Outreach Coordinator St. Luke’s Hospital Center of Behavioral Medicine, and Dr. Belynda D. Veser, Chair of the Polk County Mental Health Advisory Board and Geriatric Psychiatrist at St. Luke’s Hospital, will give the presentation.
Set Public Hearing For An Amendment to the Polk County Zoning Ordinance/ Zoning Map to Rezone and Zone Certain Areas as the Equestrian Village District – Cathy Ruth, Planner, will present the request to schedule a public hearing on May 15, at 7:00 P.M. in the R. Jay Foster Hall of Justice, Womack Building, to take public comment on the proposed amendment to the Polk County zoning ordinance and zoning map. Motion to approve.
Resolution for Property Tax Reform – Marche Pittman, County Manager, will present the resolution. Motion to approve.
Manager’s Report – Polk County Law Enforcement Facility Construction Update – Paul Luzier, Mosely Architects will give the update.
