Second installment of Dark Horse Theater Project offers intimate evening of theater

Tryon Fine Arts Center presents the second installment of the Dark Horse Theater Project on Wednesday, April 5. The intimate staged reading will begin at 7 p.m. on the Veh Stage at TFAC. Seating is limited, so advanced registration is requested. 

New York-based playwright Cate Allen makes her return to Tryon for the Dark Horse Theater Project on Wednesday, April 5 at Tryon Fine Arts Center.

Catherine “Cate” Allen is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter whose work has appeared in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Her short play, “Anything For You”, appears in several anthologies and textbooks and was made into a film; “Romance Language”, was adapted to film in the U.K. In September 2015, another short play, “Little Yellow T-Shirt”, had its world premiere as part of the Underground Plays series at The Upstairs Artspace during 2015’s ArtTrek, in Tryon. She thoroughly enjoyed the experience here and was so impressed by the amount of acting talent our local Arts community offers, she has returned with some of her acclaimed one-act plays which will be the second event produced by the Dark Horse Theater Project.

The staged reading will include (among others) the talented actors, Michelle Fleming, Susie Kocher, Ed Harrelson, Joel Perkin, Chris Tinkler, Sarah Hurley, Guy Winker and Ms. Allen’s daughter, Kiera Allen, who also has numerous stage and film credits to her name, including just finishing a sold out run Off Broadway, in a play by one of the creators of the hit show on NBC, “This is Us”.

The evening will run approximately 1 hour. Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted at the door. A cash bar is available.  Seating is limited to 50 audience members, please call 828-859-8322 to reserve your seat.
