Tryon Concert Association presents pianist Alexander Kobrin

For the final concert of the 2016-2017 season the Tryon Concert Association will present pianist Alexander Kobrin, Thursday, March 30 at the Tryon Fine Arts Center at 8 p.m.

Winner of the 12th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2005, Alexander Kobrin was called by the BBC the “Van Cliburn of today.” This Russian-born artist has won numerous international competitions during his career and has performed with major orchestras and leading conductors over the world.

His recordings include the major works by Chopin and others. His recording album of Robert Schumann was included in the top-five albums of the year in 2015 by Fanfare Magazine.

Presently Kobrin lives in New York where he teaches at the Steinhardt School at New York University; he also teaches at the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University.
