Polk varsity falls on penalty kicks, JVs deadlock at Owen

Owen handed Polk County a key Western Highlands Conference loss on Monday, outlasting the Wolverines in a penalty kick shootout in Swannanoa.
The two teams battled through regulation and overtime without scoring. But Owen (7-3, 5-1) converted its first four penalty kicks while Polk County (6-3, 3-1) made only one of its first three to seal its fate.
Malena Roman had 13 saves for Polk County in regulation and overtime.
The junior varsity game also ended in a tie, a 1-1 deadlock.
Polk County is back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Mitchell.
