Waiting around for a call back

The past few weeks we have experienced inconsiderate communication from contractors. We contacted three different ones at different times for a job estimate on my mom’s front porch. They all came out and were quite nice.
Our complaint is that none of them called back when they said with their estimates. In fact, no calls at all.
Contractors, this is directed to you … if you don’t have the time or don’t want the job please be up front and just say so. If you promise to call with an estimate but decide you don’t want the job, at least call back when you promised. Don’t leave the customer wondering what’s going on because this will get passed around.
Honesty is the best business practice.
