Editor’s Note: following is the agenda for the Polk County Board of Commissioner meeting on Monday, March 20. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the R. Jay Foster Hall of Justice, located on the second floor of the Womack building in Columbus.

Approval of Agenda – Agenda items may be added and/or deleted at this time. Motion to approve.
Consent Agenda
A) March 6, 2017, regular meeting minutes.
B) Approval of Tax Department written refund requests totaling $1,773.50.
C) Budget Amendment in the amount of $6,756 to fund vacation payout due to retirement and for paying current Veteran Services Director while training new part-time Veteran Services Director.
Motion to approve the consent agenda.

Uncollected Taxes as of February 28, 2017 – Ms. Bowlin will present the amount of uncollected 2016 taxes. The Board will need to make a motion to charge Ms. Bowlin to advertise and collect these taxes by any and all means. Motion to approve.
Turner Shoals Dam Project Update – Dave Odom of Odom Engineering will present a history of the studies and work to date on the dam.
Waterline Extension Policy Review – Mr. Odom will present .
Manager’s Report – 1) Present Polk County Mission Statement draft for review; 2) Update on Fire and Rescue Advisory Committee (FRAC).
Amendment to Resolution Establishing Polk County Board of Equalization & Review To consider amending the resolution to allow for alternate members. Attorney Berg will present the information. Motion to approve.
Volunteer Board for Vote – Board of Adjustment – 1 application, 1 vacancy; Mental Health Advisory Board – 1 application, 2 vacancies; Planning Board – 2 applications, 4 vacancies.
Volunteer Boards for Review – Board of Equalization & Review- 8 applications, 5 vacancies; Library Board of Trustees- 3 applications, 3 vacancies; Recreation Advisory Board- 4 applications, 4 vacancies.
Commissioner Comments –
Closed Session – Motion to go into closed session, Economic Development, G.S. 143-318.11(a) (4).
Return to Open Session – Motion to return to open session.
