Grace B. Underwood went to be with her Savior on the morning of March 8, 2017 at the age of 94. In her last years, she dreamed of Heaven many times and now her dream has become a beautiful reality. 

Grace was born to the late Harve and Maude Blackwell on Sept. 13, 1922. She spent her life in Polk County, N.C. serving as a nurse and caregiver to the elderly until she was 84.

Grace was always willing to give to those in need. She hated to see anyone want for anything. She gave even until she was without. She loved to listen to good gospel singing. Grace loved to play piano and sing gospel songs to her savior, Jesus. Her laugh and smile caused contagious joy in any room she was in.

Grace is preceded in death by her late husband, William Luis Underwood and son Harvey Smith. Grace is survived by her two sons, John and James Underwood; their wives Teresia and Betty Underwood; seven grandchildren and multiple great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at Harmon Field on Saturday, March 18 at 2 p.m. in the screened in picnic area. All are welcomed!
