Polk County Volleyball Club 16U captured the Silver Bracket title at the SAVL Alliance Classic in Spartanburg.

All three teams representing Polk County Volleyball Club took part in two-day tournaments this weekend, each tourney concluding Sunday and each team faring well.

The 14U team had perhaps the best showing of the group, reaching the Gold Bracket semifinals of the Charlotte AAU Grand Prix. The team, coached by Donna Hall, won its first four games of the weekend before falling 25-21, 25-23 to Team VB Rags 14N Victor on Sunday. VB Rags is part of a volleyball academy based in New Jersey.

The Polk County 12U and 16U teams also had solid showings in the SAVL Alliance Classic. PCVC 12U placed fifth in the Gold Bracket, going 4-1 before dropping back-to-back matches to Sports Academy Hurricane, the eventual tournament runners-up.

Coached by Matthew Russell, PCVC 12U won a pair of tough three-set matches in pool and crossover play in Greenville before falling to Club Unite 12 Heather, the eventual tournament champions. PCVC rebounded from that loss with a 25-22, 25-17 win over Carolina Islanders 12 Elite before falling to the Sports Academy team from the Charlotte area in both cross-bracket and Gold Bracket play.

The PCVC 16U opened play in the 16U division with two losses, but bounced back to win six straight matches and the Silver Bracket title.

Competing in Spartanburg, PCVC 16U dropped only one set in those six wins, closing play Sunday with a 25-16, 25-22 win over Carolina Union Volleyball Club 16 Silver. The team, coached by Addie Lynch and Georgia Garrett, placed seventh overall in the field.
