Foothills Music Club plans organ concert

An organ concert presented by the Foothills Music Club (FMC), Inc. will be held on March 9 at 3 p. m., at the Tryon Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross on Melrose Avenue. This concert will feature six organists from the area as well as the FMC Women’s Chorale. Three of the participating organists are Susie Mahnke, John Mullaney and Carole Bartol.
Susie Mahnke is the music director at Holy Cross where she plays the organ and directs the handbell and chancel choirs. John Mullaney studied music at Columbia University. He has served as organist in churches in Orlando, Florida and western North Carolina. He and Mahnke will be playing a duet for organ and piano on the March program. Carole Bartol, a pianist and organist, is currently serving as interim organist at the Tryon Congregational Church. She will play an organ selection with recorder and melodica and will also accompany the FMC Women’s Chorale.
This concert on March 9 is open and free to the public. Donations to the FMC Young Musicians Scholarship Fund will be accepted. The FMC is a 501(c)3 organization; all gifts are tax deductible as allowed by the IRS.
