Ruth Day Taylor

Ruth Day Taylor, 93, of Tryon, N.C. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017 at White Oak Manor of Tryon.
Born in Pickens County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Josie Day and wife of the late Harold Taylor who passed away in 2016. Mrs. Taylor worked as a nurse with Dr. A.T. Pagter for 25 years. She was a member of Tryon First Baptist Church where she served in many capacities including W.O.M. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Post 10349.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Taylor, a granddaughter, Allison Taylor MacDonald and several siblings.
Surviving are one son, Johnny Taylor (Gerry) of Tryon, N.C.; one daughter, Paulette MacDonald (Rion) of Rutherfordton, N.C.; two sisters, Martha Jane Cox of Simpsonville, S.C. and Clelia Cochran of Green Creek, N.C.; one grandson, Brian Taylor (Jennifer) of Columbus, N.C. and two great-grandchildren, Caroline and Thomas Taylor.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, N.C. with Dr. Jeff Harris and Dr. Darryl E. Maxwell officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, N.C.
