The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) will be leading guided bird walks at Green River Game Land throughout 2017 with the first walk being this Friday, Feb. 17. The group will be exploring the Big Hungry side of the game lands. The birding will focus on observing winter sparrows and red-headed woodpeckers. Meet at 8 a.m. at the Marathon gas station off of exit 53 on I-26. Bring a rain jacket, binoculars, and food to last you until midday. Birding will end around noon. Clifton Avery will be leading the walk and will be bringing copies of the new four-season bird checklist.
