Wolverines set to compete in state indoor track championships

Polk County will have a number of male and female athletes competing today at the 2A/1A state indoor track championships in Winston-Salem.

The state meet will begin at 4 p.m. at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem. Athletes had to meet qualifying standards in each event to earn a spot in the state meet.

The following Polk County athletes are scheduled to compete. Each athlete is listed with their qualifying performance and current seeding:

GIRLS

Long Jump: 12. Marissa Longshore, 16-5; 20. Reese Alley, 15-7

Triple Jump: 12. Reese Alley, 32-7 1/2.

Shot Put: 12. Micheala Nelon, 34-7; 13. Kimberly Williams, 33-11; 16. Reagan Waddell, 33-3.

Pole Vault: 6. Lauren Ketwitz, 8-6.

4×200 meter relay: 26. Polk County, 1:58.09.

500-meter dash: 4. Izzy Jackson, 1:19.81.

1000-meter run: 5. India Godlock, 3:20.39.

4×400-meter relay: 4. Polk County, 4:27.65.

BOYS

Shot Put: 21. Zach Foy, 42-1.

Pole Vault: 1. Troy Lieberman, 13-6; 3. Jake Justice, 12-6.

3200-meter run: 24. Caleb Potter, 10:39.40.

4×400-meter relay: 14. Polk County, 3:45.50.
