Curtis Russell Kempton

Curtis (Curt) Kempton, 57, of Columbus, N.C. died Jan. 29, 2017. Born Oct. 8, 1959 in Topeka, Kansas to Eugene John and Loralle Ballou Kempton, he attended high school in Stuart, Fla. and then earned a degree in building science at Clemson University. He worked most recently for FLS Energy of Asheville, N.C.

Curt is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years Paula Lynch Kempton, sons Justin of Six Mile, S.C., Austin of Columbus, N.C., daughter Jaylyn of Wilmington, N.C. as well as a brother, Christopher and sisters Anne and Rebecca, all of Six Mile, S.C. He was the proud grandfather of Cameron, Asylyn (A.J.) and Harper.

The family will hold a private gathering from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, and will host an open house ceremony in honor of Curt starting at 1 p.m. at the 851 Peniel Road residence. The gathering will be a celebration of his life and all are welcome to attend. Curt was a Clemson graduate and lifelong fan of the Clemson Tigers which will be the theme of his remembrance. Clemson attire is appreciated, but not mandatory. Memorials in his memory may be made to Habitat for Humanity or Homeward Bound.
