The NC Cooperative Extension office has relocated to 79 Carmel Lane off Skyuka Road in Columbus behind the Polk County Senior Recreation Center and Meeting Place. An open house was held Friday afternoon, Jan. 27. Members of the Master Gardeners and the Extension Associates were present and a raffle for a bench was held. Snacks and refreshments were served. Pictured are 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent Helen Clark, County Extension Administrative Assistant Sarah Gottfried, County Extension Director Scott Welborn and Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent Jimmi Buell. According to Buell, the new location is more accessible to the extension’s older clients and allows for research gardening on the property. (Photos by Michael O’Hearn)
