Davies joins board of directors at Steps to HOPE

Jay Davies has joined the board of directors at Steps to HOPE and is very excited to be involved and help advance the mission of ending domestic violence and sexual assault in our area. 

Davies was born in Erie, Pa. and was raised in Grand Rapids, Mich. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Alma College in Alma, Mich. and a master’s degree in biology from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Fla.

After five years active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps as a helicopter pilot, he moved to North Carolina and worked for the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission and the N.C. Division of Forest Resources. He also flew helicopters for the N.C. Army National Guard.

Since moving to Polk County with his wife, Zora, 10 years ago, Davies has been active in the American Red Cross, Pacolet Area Conservancy and the Community Chorus. He and Zora have one daughter who is the art director for Celebrate Hilton Head, a monthly magazine at Hilton Head Island, S.C., and a son who is finishing his surgery residency and will be starting a fellowship in cardio-thoracic surgery at the University of Virginia

Davies’ hobbies include reading, riding bicycles, bird watching, horseback riding and hiking.
