The Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office were searching for a man Friday evening, Jan. 13, who fled a traffic stop along Hwy. 9 near the state line.

A deputy with Polk County attempted to stop a car on Hwy. 9 but the driver did not stop and fled across the South Carolina state line, according to sheriff reports. The driver then got out of the car in South Carolina and ran into the woods. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

As of late Friday night the suspect had not been located but officials were still searching the area.
