Montgomery to speak to Tryon Garden Club on winter gardening

On Wednesday, Jan. 18 the Tryon Garden Club will meet at Foothills Equestrian Nature Center (FENCE). Carolina gardening expert Betty Montgomery will speak at 2 p.m. on “Your Garden in Winter.” Montgomery will speak about how to protect your favorite plants and when to prune, divide and transplant them.

The public is welcome to attend this free presentation.

Author of “A Four-Season Southern Garden,” Montgomery will share her experience from 40 years of love and labor gardening in the zone seven climate. Montgomery is a hands-on master gardener who derives satisfaction from nurturing plants, bushes and trees. Montgomery will give information for creating healthy and colorful gardens and encouraging them to thrive and be long-lasting.

The Tryon Garden Club meetings begin at 1 p.m. and snacks and refreshments are served at 1:30 p.m. Programs start promptly at 2 p.m. The public is invited.
